Frequently Asked Questions

How do physiotherapy appointments work?Your physiotherapist will gather information from a detailed assessment in your initial consultation. This will include the history of your pain or injury such as how it occurred and aggravating factors. Then there will be objective measures or ‘tests’ performed to understand how you are moving, your strength and function is and from there a diagnosis can be formed. This can then inform treatment methods based on the findings of the assessment. Do I need to book multiple appointments? In your initial consultation your physiotherapist will gather information and measures to ascertain a diagnosis which then informs the timeframe of healing and progression based on a number of factors. It is impossible to give a 1 size fits all treatment frequency because of these factors, however you can expect to see your physiotherapists more frequently in the first period of your treatment which then reduces as pain, healing, function and movement progresses. How do I book an appointment? You can request a consultation via our request form on the website or call 0438678982. What experience do you have as a physiotherapist?Angus graduated in 2017 from Western Sydney University with a bachelor of physiotherapy and masters of health science. He has worked in various musculoskeletal settings such as private practice, sports teams, aged care facilities, post surgical rehab and mobile settings. Angus enjoys the variety and unpredictable nature of physiotherapy however he has a special interest in chronic pain management and education. What makes you different to other physiotherapists? If you’ve ever been to a physio, you would know that most of them are concentrated on a cure focus model. This means they work well in the short term with your initial injury, however you may have had experience with recurrence of injuries only to find yourself back at the physio with the same or worse condition you had prior. We incorporate a prevention based model which along with detailed education will equip you to manage this condition actively so that you have a better chance of keeping fit and healthy and staying that way. What are your values and approach to physiotherapy? We have an overarching model of prevention rather than cure only model of healthcare. We work with two pillars to achieve this via physical and mental resilience. Physical is fairly straightforward and is heavily based on active treatments namely exercise rehabilitation and movement. Mental resilience is about giving you the tools and knowledge to feel confident in your body and actively manage your injury. We also have key values underpinning all of our practice, these are to involve you in the process by creating goals tailored to you, educating you on the available options for you going forward as well as using the best available research to inform your treatment decisions. Where are you located? We are a mobile healthcare service only currently, this means that all of the services available we provide in the comfort of your own home. We bring our mobile equipment and you don’t have to worry about getting to a busy clinic. How long will my consultation be?Consultation times will vary, your initial assessment will involve a little bit more time to get a detailed history and assessment with you, taking approximately 45 minutes. Our subsequent consultations will be 30 minutes. We can also provide extended consultations specifically for NDIS and aged care but also for patients seeking further treatment options. What if I have 2 injuries? We prefer to focus on doing a great job on one area of concern rather than a lesser job on two areas. You can choose either option here in 30 minutes, or book an extended consultation for 2 areas. How many appointments do I need to book?Your physiotherapist will create a management plan going forward tailored to you and your goals. Many factors such as diagnoses and history will indicate the frequency and amount of physiotherapy appointments you will need. Safety and hygiene practices? Our physiotherapists have all completed up to date safety and hygiene modules in order to keep a sanitary clinic and workspace environment. We wear personal protective equipment based on the current guidelines and protocols.
