Post Operative Physiotherapy

Rehabilitation following surgery can be a long and sometimes stressful process.
Our physiotherapists work with local specialists and surgeons to support patients throughout their post operative rehabilitation.

Where a surgeon has provided a specific rehabilitation protocol, this is incorporated into your treatment plan. Your progress is regularly reassessed and rehabilitation is adjusted as your capacity improves.
Treatment is guided by your individual goals, whether that means returning to work, walking comfortably, getting back to the gym, running or returning to competitive sport.

Education is also an important part of post operative rehabilitation. We help you understand what to expect during recovery, how to manage temporary setbacks and how to gradually increase your activity safely.

Pain management, pacing and graded progression are incorporated throughout the rehabilitation process where appropriate.

Following surgery, the body needs time to heal, but rest alone is rarely enough to restore full function. Without guided rehabilitation, patients can be left with stiffness, weakness, swelling and uncertainty about how much they should be doing. In these instances, a physiotherapist can provide a structured, progressive rehabilitation program, working within your surgeon’s protocol, to restore movement, rebuild strength, and safely return you to work, daily activities and sport.
